Step #1: Find your why – Why do you want to start your blog?
Blogging is all about writing blog posts for free. No one will pay for reading your blog. So if you don’t have a strong reason for writing you will quit very fast. However, if you know why you are doing it, what is your goal with it, you will never give up, and you will achieve your goal, and you will find happiness doing it.
I personally wanted to give back and help others start their own business because building online businesses changed my life entirely. So this is my why. What’s yours?
Step #2: Find a name
Once you found your motivation, your next step is to find a name for your blog. To do that, you need to know the topic of your blog.
If you want to stay anonymous, that’s okay too. You don’t need to use your own name.
However, if you don’t have a specific topic, but you want to create a lifestyle blog, you need to choose a name accordingly.
Step #3: Choose your platform
The next step is to choose a platform where you will publish your posts. If you’re a complete beginner, I recommend WordPress. It’s entirely free. I don’t think you need to spend money on this. Save your money for step #4.
Step #4: Set up your blog
I would recommend you to use the WordPress + Bluehost combination. Bluehost is a hosting platform. It’s straightforward to set up, so it’s 100% beginner-friendly. It’s all-in-one setup and totally risk-free as they have a money-back guarantee.
Yes, it does cost money, but this is the only thing you need to spend money on at the beginning: for hosting and for buying a domain name. However, if you use this link, you’ll get a discount and a FREE domain name:

Step #5: Pick a blog design
Again, this is something that you don’t need to spend money at the beginning. Simply type in “free blog templates” or “free blogger templates” or something like that in Google, and you’ll find a lot of cool stuff there for free.
Of course, if you have money for that right at the beginning, you can find paid templates, as well. Premade templates are usually cheaper.
Step #6: Equipments
I don’t recommend to buy expensive equipment at the beginning. Using your phone is more than enough to take photos when you start your blogging journey.
Later, when you have more money, you can invest in cameras and extras like tripods, lightings, and things like that. You can even buy them from someone else as used equipment to save money.
Step #7: Start creating and publishing blog posts
I think it’s a good idea to tell your friends and family that you started a blog. Accountability is vital when you start something. You don’t want to give up and trust me; it will be hard at the beginning.
Don’t stress about finding topics. Start with a welcome post and then find topics you want to write about. What’s important is to like your content.
Creating an about and a contact page can be useful as well.
Step #8: Create social media accounts
I don’t know a blogger who doesn’t have some social media account, as well. What I recommend are twitter and Instagram.
It’s not only useful for marketing purposes, but it’s also good to keep in touch with your audience and notify them if you have new content.
Step #9: Build your audience
I found that the most effective way to build your audience is by replying to their comments. It’s not that a big deal at the early stages, but your audience will feel more appreciated. It doesn’t matter which social media platform did you choose, but they can comment on your post everywhere. Take some time to connect them.
Of course, in the later stages, when you get a lot of comments, you don’t have time to reply to every comment. However, you can still answer some of them, or if you want, you can do some live Q&A Youtube videos a couple of times and reply to some of their questions there. Either way, don’t try to avoid connecting with your audience because you can thank them a lot, and you need to give back to them as well. One way to do it is by creating valuable content, and another way is by engaging with them.
Step #10: Take massive action
Finally, take massive action and work on your blog as much as you can. It can be slow at the beginning but trust me, it worth working hard on it. Try to publish content as often as you can at the beginning. Some bloggers have a specific day or more days a week for new content so that their audience will know when to come and read the latest post. If you can do it, great, but if you can’t don’t worry about it, just keep posting.
Step #11: Make money
Now you know how to start a blog. The next question is how you can make money with it. It’s a whole new topic, but I created a 100% FREE online video training where I share with you how you can make money online.
